Botanicals I
The Botanicals series were conceived and photographed in the spring of 2020, at the outset of the Covid-19 quarantine. I realized that I was potentially going to be working from home for some time, so I started going to New York’s flower district on a weekly basis and buying as many flowers as I could carry. I started photographing the flowers at full blossom or just as they began to die. As the days and then weeks wore on, however, I continued to watch the flowers and was by struck their persistent beauty. Capturing their various states of decay soon became my focus.
The works are printed on archival Canson rag photographique paper.
