Adrift
Created in 2005, the Adrift series was photographed during early summer mornings while staying in a cottage with family on the North Fork of Long Island. I loaded film—either 35 mm or 6x7 cm—at night, then woke before dawn and headed straight to the water. With my camera wrapped in simple plastic bags, I waded into the shallows. The sun would rise over the hills and for a few minutes strike only the crests of waves before casting its full light on the water.
